on Maurice Cotterell

Reading The Terracotta Warriors one is invited and incited into reading Cotterell's theories (through the Appendices) on solar activity and Mayan, Egyptian,Peruvian etc. calendar, symbolism, or how the author names them "secret codes".
The way the Chinese history of writing and first writings is told by Cotterell demonstrates an expedite and consumerist approach, speculative thinking,amateurish "decoding" of Chinese characters and Chinese mythology.

Definitely not a scholarly book, in my opinion, or any scientific theory for that matter.
What is more amazing is the fact that there is no data regarding M. Cotterell's credentials, studies, bio in the Wikipedia or any web page(other than selling of his books, videos; radio talks).

Preparing my summer vacation in China, along the Silk road cities of Dunhuang, Xi'an, Luoyang I checked out from UCI Library three books on Chinese buddhist art.

It's a modest beginning of my exploration of Chinese Buddhism.
