buddhist art readings

Preparing my summer vacation in China, along the Silk road cities of Dunhuang, Xi'an, Luoyang I checked out from UCI Library three books on Chinese buddhist art.

Cave Temples of Dunhuang, Art and history on the Silk Road by Roderick Whitfield, Susan Whitfield, Neville Agnew,The British Library, London 2000.

Chinese Buddhist Art by Patricia Eichenbaum Karetzky, Oxford University Press, 2002.

The Terracotta Warriors by Maurice Cotterell, Headline Book Publishing, 2003.

It's a modest beginning of my exploration of Chinese Buddhism.

Here is a buddhist mask, carved in wood, bought last year in Chinatown, in San Francisco.
