Picasso as my muse

A couple of days ago I started reading Picasso An Intimate portrait by Jaime Sabartes-a Spanish friend of the artist, and the famous memoires of Francoise Gilot Life with Picasso published in 1964.Also Picasso's art catalogue Joy of Life.
The innovative nature of this great artist has been always an inspiration for me and probably imbued by his enthusiasm for life and his art I came across developing this new art style which I am exploring with the same joy of color of my realist works in colored pencils and oil pastels, and,of course, Crayola crayons.
Take a look at my latest explorations of the possibilities of this style in my new blog Fuzzy realism - a new art style.

still life with teapot, lemons and rosehips

just another attempt at the same teapot with rosehips and the lemons. This time is more than suggestion, some elements are drawn realisticaly.WaterColor pencils on drawing pad 9x12in.

and the wet version

bowl of apricots

this is fuzzy art and collage of my drawing "Bowl of Apricots" which I completed in June 2008.I did my own stylization without the aid of the program so I can control the amount of fuzziness.Next i will use colored pencils on white paper as this is also a crayola crayons piece on canvaskin pad 5x7in.

geranium pot WIP

right now I am making the stylization in Microsoft Picture it and render it in crayons on canvaskin in about 20 minutes. This is a wip of a drawing titled: geranium pot.

the fuzzy art style

Looking for new ways, a new technique, a new art style I came across this photo illusion obtained with Microsoft program, Picture it, called "Vegas". The illusion consists of fuzzy lines along contours, shapes, volumes of your objects in the drawing/picture.My first attempt was to imitate the digital effect in Crayola crayons after my drawing of Vermeer's Girl with the pearl earring. My only enhancement was the pearl earring. This is my fuzzy drawing from April 2009.

Today I just tried a still life with teapot, rosehips and lemons in the same style. This is also crayola crayons on canvaskin 9x12in.

What I like in this style is the fasteness of the drawing, the loose hand with which you apply the crayons, the guessing that is involved in receving this art. Also there is no limit to the fuzziness, you can be only suggestive or more conspicuous in your drawing.
I am planning to create at least about 10-15 drawings in this style in order to make an evaluation of its possibilities with other media.

Picasso again

I just finished reading the memoires of Fernande Olivier, in the English translation, Loving Picasso; a book first edition as Picasso et ses amis was published in France in 1933 and the translation into English known as Picasso and his friends appeared in 1964.The memoires document a period between 1905-1911 known as the Bateau Lavoir times, Picasso's first studio in Paris, also his blue and rose periods. There are depictions of daily life in Montmartre, the group of friends at the time, Apollinaire, Braque, Gertrude Stein, Max Jacob among others.Fernande Olivier, former model to famous artists and sculptors, writes a vivid journal of this entourage as well as of the struggles of young Picasso.
